Freezing Wind
Freezing Wind is a new weather effect that pushes entities and blows out and exposed open flames. It spawns naturally in mountains and high up in the sky, but can also spawn on the ground in cold biomes during storms. If you're struck by Freezing Wind, it will push you slightly and also apply some freezing. Try catching it with Elytra!
This will likely be the last update for 1.19.2, barring any critical issues. However, the next few updates will be mostly backend focused so you won't miss much if you wish to remain on 1.19.2

The Frostologer Clan
The Frostologer leads the Frostologer Clan of Illagers and resides in the Snowy Plains. They inhabit a castle of Snow and live in larger village-like structures. The Frostologer resides in the main keep, which is guarded by a large gang of Chillagers. Chillagers are effectively cold-adapted Pillager. They carry crossbows, but fire Frost Tipped Arrows instead of regular arrows and is immune to freezing. Chillagers live in a village-like area around the Keep, and generally keep to their own business.
The Frostologer themselves is a formidable opponent. Rather than being simply immune to cold like the more primitive Chillager, the Frostologer thrives in the cold. When the Frostologer is cold they gain an immense amount of power. In order to defeat them, you must find a way to warm them up. However, the Frostologer is capable of destroying heat sources, so torch spam will not always work!
When they die, the Frostologer drops their Frost Wand. If they're killed with the Frost Wand itself, then they will drop their Cloak of Frostology as well. This cloak is always enchanted with Curse of Binding to prevent cheesing cold.

Cloak of Frostology
The Cloak of Frostology is like a cape in item form. When worn in the chest slot, it grants the Player the power to become Ice-like, so that they gain power from being cold rather than being punished by it. However, when the player is warm they will melt and take damage, so you must remain in cold areas to avoid turning into a puddle!
When Trinkets is installed, the Cloak of Frostology can be equipped in the 'Cape' slot and will act as a pure cosmetic item and have no effect. Note that Trinkets is not required!
For more details, see the relevant wiki article:
Packed Snow and Cut Ice
Snow can now be packed into a harder stone-like form that can be used to make bricks. These bricks can in turn be made into slabs, stairs, and walls. Packed Snow can be crafted directly from Snow Blocks, or by 'packing' snow layers. Snow layers are packed when a heavy entity such as a ravager, warden, or iron golem steps on it.
Packed Ice and Blue Ice can also be cut to make stairs, slabs, and walls, similarly to Copper. It is more efficient to use a Stonecutter for this purpose than a standard crafting table. Regular Ice cannot be cut into these blocks, but it can now be used to make an icy glass pane.
For more details, see the relevant wiki articles:
- https://github.com/TheDeathlyCow/frostiful/wiki/Packed-Snow
Other Additions
The Tuft of Ocelot Fur is a new form of Fur that is dropped when Ocelots playfight. They drop with similar rates to Wolves.
The Frozen Torch is what is left when the Frostologer destroys a torch block.
The enchantment Curse of Frozen Touch is a three-level Curse enchantment that is the opposite of Enervation; it drains heat from you to your victim rather than the other way around. It is of course, mutually exclusive with Enervation.
Frostology Update Alpha 6
This is a small update, see the previous changelog for more details on whats included with this alpha. Be sure to back up your worlds when using this version!

- Fire Resistance can no longer be used to get near perfect cold immunity
- Added support for Trinkets (note that Trinkets is not required!) When the Cloak of Frostology is equipped in the 'Cape' slot is will act as a pure cosmetic item and have no effect.
Frostology Update Alpha 5

Item Attribute Modifiers
This update adds some stuff to make configuring Frostiful with datapacks a little easier, with a particular eye toward mod packs.
- Added a new datapack file category called 'item attribute modifiers'
- This datapack category is found under
data/[namespace]/frostiful/item_attribute_modifiers
. - It allows a datapack to specify different attribute modifiers for the 'generic' version of any item.
- See wiki for specific format
- This datapack category is found under
- Added new temperature effect type:
frostiful:empty
- This does literally nothing, its purpose is to make it easier to overwrite other effects
- Fixed some issues with icicles
- Fixed a compatibility issue with mods that add custom entity attributes
- Icicles now require silk touch to be mined
Help, its getting dark and I'm lost out in the cold...
This update changes how night time interacts with passive freezing and adjusts some default config values based on playtesting experience and feedback.
- At night time, the global temperature is decreased by 0.25.
- This has the effect of increasing the amount of passive freezing by 1 in every biome
- Some biomes (such as Plains) might not be cold during the day, but at night they will become cold
- The minimum light level for warmth at all times is now 5 by default
- The warmth per light level is now 2
- Rabbit Hide can no longer be used to craft Fur Armor
- Cleaned up the commands a little bit and added documentation for them on the wiki
- Ultrawarm dimensions (like The Nether) now provide passive warmth
- Added config option to disable icicles forming in weather
- Integrated icicles from Immersive Weathering into Frostiful's icicle crafting recipes

Some dry socks, please
- Introduced a new parameter: wetness
- Passive freezing now increases proportionally to your wetness, rather than by a flat amount when touching water
- You become wet at different rates from being in the rain or touching water
- Submerging yourself in water immediately soaks you completely
- Dry out slowly when not in water, near block light sources, or on fire
- When you're wet, you drip water
- Having the status effects Water Breathing or Conduit Power negate the passive freezing from being wet
- Find more details on the wiki
- Increased fire thaw rate from 10 to 50
- Conduit Power now provides 12 warmth per tick when submerged in water
- Fixed an issue where the fire extinguish sound would be spammed when on fire in a cold biome
Upgrading from 0.1.0: You will need to reset your config to use the updated values. You can do this by either deleting the file config/frostiful.json
or by manually resetting the values in the Mod Menu.
