This datapack adds a new use for copper in the form of tools and an armor set, along with several other related features such as oxidization, waxing, and brand-new advancements!
Copper Equipment
A new tier of tools and armor is added, Copper. The tools are slightly worse than iron tools, with a lot less starting durability and overall damage, making them a good option before you can stock up on more precious ores. Copper armor is much the same while also providing fewer armor points.
The copper pickaxe has been specially modified to not be able to mine diamond ores. However, when the pickaxe fully oxidizes, it'll be able to mine these precious materials.
Amethyst Cartridge
Two new craftable items are added. One is the Copper Crossbow which functions identically to a normal Crossbow but with slightly more durability.
The other is the Amethyst Cartridge which is a new item that can be charged with experience points by dropping it onto a Lodestone. After a total of 12 levels consumed, the Amethyst Cartridge will become fully charged. When loaded into a Copper Crossbow, it can fire a high-power laser that deals 12 hearts of damage.
Oxidization
When copper tools and armor are placed inside item frames or held in the main/offhand they'll oxidize slowly, changing texture and increasing their maximum durability. Copper armor pieces can also oxidize while equipped by a player or being displayed on an armor stand.
Oxidization isn't a permanent thing as any copper tool can be scraped with a piece of flint to slowly reverse the process.
Once fully oxidized, these items will gain an enchantment as a reward for your patience:
- Sword: Looting I
- Axe: Sharpness II
- Pickaxe: Silk Touch
- Shovel: Efficiency I
- Hoe: Unbreaking I
- Crossbow: Quick Charge I
- Helmet: Aqua Affinity
- Chestplate: Thorns I
- Leggings: Protection I
- Boots: Feather Falling I
Copper pickaxe is a special case, as it fully oxidizes, it'll obtain the ability to mine and obtain Budding Amethyst blocks.
Waxing
You can prevent further oxidation by dropping a honeycomb and the tool on the ground to coat it with wax. If you ever want to remove this wax from your copper tool, simply drop the tool and a piece of flint on the ground to scrape it off completely.
Advancements
There is also a new category of advancements, focusing primarily on teaching you and your friends how to use the datapack. I have also included one hidden advancement, so keep an eye out.
